All the things I love about myself

I often struggle with issues of confidence and self-esteem. Overall, I would say that I am an outgoing and confident person but I’ve also realised that confidence is a fragile thing; sometimes it doesn’t take much to tear it down. One day, I came home and wrote this piece addressed to myself as a way of picking myself up again in those moments of self-doubt and low self-esteem. These are all the things I love about myself

I love the enthusiasm and positivity that you have towards life generally. You always try to look at situations with a positive lens and I think this optimism really shines through your personality.

I love how self-aware you are. You are more in tune with your emotions than you have ever been.

I love how committed you are to working on yourself and the fact that you are always looking to better yourself and to grow in one way or another is so admirable.

I love that you care so much. You care about the work that you do, the people in your life and about having a positive impact wherever you can. It means you will go above and beyond to get a task done or to put a smile on someone’s face.

I love that you are sensitive. When someone compliments you or gives you positive feedback, you will think about it for the rest of the day and conversely, if you have upset somebody, even if inadvertently, you will do whatever it takes to make it right.

I love that you enjoy small-talk and that even if you are busy, you will still happily give time to people to check in with them even just to ask them about what they did over the weekend; what shows they are watching on Netflix; or chat about their favourite football team.

I love that on Fridays, you go up every flight of stairs to make sure you have wished every one of your colleagues a good weekend.

I love that you are unafraid to make a fool out of yourself in front of those you are close to, just to bring them some joy.

I love that you enjoy the small moments in life, like when the bus driver stops the bus when he sees someone running towards it and allows them to get on, or when someone runs and just makes it onto the train before the doors close. It is wholesome that those pockets of time make you so content.

I love your ability to connect with others. You have this aura that draws people towards you, and you have a network of such incredible people around you because of this. Each person in your circle is so inspiring but I want you to remember that you attract such inspiring people, because you are one of them.

I love that you give everyone your full attention when you talk to them. You make each person feel significant and ensure that they know that what they say carries value and that they are important to you.

I love that you remember things about people that they would not expect you to remember.

I love that when you love, you do it with every inch of your soul. You love wholly and completely.

I love that when you have a goal in mind, you are committed, dedicated, and focused such that you never give up, no matter what setbacks or failures you experience along the way. You have a perseverance that is inspiring.

I love that you are always trying to learn more about the shared human experience and the journey that we are all on together.

You make someone’s day, every day.

You have a heart of gold.

You are phenomenal.
